Levers Everywhere!
A colleague teaches an enrichment cluster on food and nutrition. When he brought out salad tongs to show something to the sixth graders in his cluster, they got into a heated debate about what class lever the tongs are, whether they are double, and used evidence of the location of the load, effort, and fulcrum to justify their ideas! :-) (And the next day, I took a group of students to an event at Columbia University. They kept pointing out inclined planes all over campus! Whoo-hoo!).
